Vintage Box

Challenge #7 - Vintage
I don't know about you but I find vintage so dreamy and a great favourite of mine.  I usually end up making a card with lots of lace, soft colours and of course pearls.  Anyway, this time I tried something new, decorating a box I have had for a while and not got round to creating with.

I first painted the box with Gesso and then stamped my flower images in Old Paper Distress Ink, next I stamped the swirls with gold.  The flower were coloured with watercolour paints and a very very light purple was applied to the whole box.  Next it was out with the gold gilding which was applied on all the edges and embossed decoration on the box.  Finally a small wee key hole was coloured by hand.  I had such fun with this creation, it was a spur of the moment, leap out the chair and dash to the craft room before inspiration got lost, no planning, just a fleeting idea I went with and I am delighted with the outcome.  This box is for me, I am sure I will find a use for it in my craft room as each time I look at it it makes me smile :) :) :)

Angels & Demon bag

Challenge 87
Anything Goes with an optional TWIST .... Angels and Demons

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Angels & Demons - where do I start lol.  I know the twist of the challenge is optional but I am trying my best to follow them and at the same time make something useful, but alas, none of my family or friends are really into dark so a card is out of the making.  What else could I make, how could I get around this one - a big dilemma and really got my brain cell working overtime.  I had thought of an angel on a coffee cup, the angel good the coffee one of my demons hahaha, another thought was a chocolate bar with an angel wrapper.  In the end I decided to use Ike's image 'Angel's & Demons', a beautifully drawn image.

I have used this image a few times and always coloured her so this time am doing something a little different and using the image to make a background.  I used multiple copies of the image in Photoshop and then applied a second layer where I painted a few colours over the whole area.  I made this a 'linear burn' layer, blurred the colours and then made the layer fairly opaque so the Angel and Demon images below showed through clearly.

Next I printed my paper (A4 size) and made a gift bag. Black ribbon, a silver metal embellishment and Happy Birthday peel off sticker were added to complete the project.

Ingredients:-

  • colouring medium - digital
  • black ribbon, silver metal embellishment and peel off sentiment

Butterfly in Cream

Challenge #6 - Wings

A very simple cream and gold card is my contribution for the International Art & Soul 'Wings' Challenge.  Sometime ago I bough the beautiful Tatter Lace butterfly die, well I bought two really and to date have not used them (I wonder how many of us have done something similar :) )  The die is so beautiful it really needed to hold centre stage so I opted for a very simple and hopefully elegant card.  The gold sentiment and swirls were stamped onto a mat which I had previously embossed.  Next the butterfly was added and some liquid pearls added to the ends of the wings.  I then mounted this on matt gold paper and then onto my cream card base.

Snowdrops

Time for another challenge over at

Challenge 86
Anything Goes with an optional TWIST .... Easter or Spring Flowers

{create something that speaks from your heart and soul and screams you with the images you use

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Fun time with digital :) :).  I used a free image of Ike's which was given away some time ago call Snowdrops.  The image was coloured digitally and used, not only for the centre panel but also for the side panels where I made a tiled pattern with the snowdrops.   For the background of each panel I used a texture overlay, printed and then mounted on the card with foam tape..  The text was also created digitally directly onto the card with the word Spring filled with the tiled snowdrop pattern.  A pretty simple card created mostly in my recliner while hubby was watching something incredibly boring on the TV hahahaha.

After I made the card I thought I would try something new :)  It has been many years since I bothered to paint my nails but recently I got into the gel polish craze and amateurish nail art although I am practicing hahaha.  Love that my nails last a good couple of weeks before having to do them again.  With having the snowdrops coloured digitally and some decal laser paper I bought last year with the aim of doing mugs I thought I would see if I could make nail decals.  A first attempt and several mistakes but a fun afternoon and that after all is what really counts.  So here  you are a pic of my nails, one hand complete the other awaiting the decals to be put on :)
and a close up of my favourite nail :)

Ingredients:-
  • image - Snowdrops by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - digital
  • from my stash - alas nothing but the white card and some foam tape  for the card, nail varnish, waterslide decal paper for the nail art

You are amazing

International Art & Soul, a challenge which has been put together to incorporate any type of craft, paper, wood, flowers, recycling, glass - the world is your oyster :).

Challenge #5 - Distressing

Why is it that the brain goes into overdrive at times, you look around your craft room and the ideas bouncing around mean you end up getting nothing done hahaha.  That was the case with this card :) There are so many distressing techniques, so many ideas to try but try to focus, well enough said.  In the end I used Distress Inks, distressed torn paper, and sanded the embossed leaves to distress them too.  The leaves and swirl were cut from some Gelli printed paper I had made a while ago, the flower from a scrap of material I happened to find on the chair (no idea how long it had been there as I don't use material very often so I guess this was one of those things that grew legs and placed itself there as it was perfect for what I was doing lol).  The torn paper is from a book I am busy using for a journal, with a several year project that started well then got put to one side.  There is a bit of the sentimental going on with this card, my Mum has Alzheimer's and I make her a card each week to cheer her up.  She is an amazing lady (hence the sentiment) and one of my very special best friends.  Seeing her deteriorate is so hard but hanging onto memories makes each day special and so the memories brad in the centre of the flower was the finish touch to this wee creation for her.
