Lil Zeba's Floral Parasol

Morning folks and my turn to share with you a creation for this week.  Continuing with my journals for my kids I have designed this page using Lil Zeba's Floral Parasol by Heather Valentin available in both rubber and as a digi.

To begin with I coloured the image using polychromos.
Next I prepeared my journal pages with white Gesso.  Now all the time I was colouring the image the chorus from the song 'Oh What A Beautiful Morning' kept repeating in my head.  I guess that was a subtle hint that I should include the words on my journal page hahahaha.  With the chorus in mind I decided to create a background of zebra stripes and use different textures for each of the black stripes then write the text in some of the white areas.  For my textures I used black acrylic paint applied thickly (that is the shiny bit, alas could not get a good pic as the light kept reflecting off it), black velvet patterned paper, black ribbon, black lace and black beads.
 I also used black glitter.
As the image had a button for one eye I decided to use a real button.
To link in with the button on the image I then covered the bottom left black stripe with lots more pink buttons.
A pretty simple page but at this point I felt adding anything else would just not work so walked away before I started playing and adding more items lol.

ATC Challenge - Anything Goes

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, just remember, you must use and IKEsART image to be eligible for the prize.  Why not pop on over to the store too :), Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

What a lovely challenge, I really enjoyed myself with this one :) Maybe that is because I am rushed off my feet at the moment with the head going in so many directions and this challenge was nice and easy and put me well into my comfort zone hahaha

For my ATC I have used the very pretty Ivy Corner digi and coloured it with Promarkers and Polychromos.  The sentiment is digitally printed.  I then mounted my image on gold paper and then a green base which I had embossed with a texture folder of burlap.  To finish off I added a wee raffia corner bow and a flat backed pearl between each break in the sentiment.  This is deliberately a fairly flat creation so it travels well in an ordinary envelope by post :)

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Ivy Corner by IKEsART
  • Colouring Medium - Promarkers and Polychromos
  • From my stash - green card, gold card, pearls and raffia

Poppy Elf

Morning peeps, how's your day doing :) :) :) Today I am sharing with you a birthday card I have made for my daughter using the image Poppy Elf by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff available from the store in rubber.

To begin with I coloured the image with Polychromos

Next I took some purple card for my base and added a red mat.  I then mounted my image on black, red and purple.  For the black mat of the card I first embossed it and the added some Purple Pan Pastels to highlight some of the embossed texture.  Red organza ribbon, purple lace and a string of pearls were added to form a border at the base of the card.  With these elements of the card ready I turned to die cutting and used the most beautiful poppy die by Memory Box and white card.  The die is really an outline of a poppy so I kept all the cut out pieces from the poppy and coloured them red.  The outline section of the die was then coloured with red where the poppy leaves are and green for the leaves and swirls.  Now for the finishing touches :) with the elements all stuck in place I added a Happy Birthday sentiment and a lovely red bow and finally 4 purple heart gems.

For the inside of the card I used the same colours, the black corner die is from Tattered Lace and called Chantilly Diamond.  Another 3 purple hearts were added and a few red stickles to bring the colours together in this area.

Ingredients:-
  • image - Poppy Elf by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff
  • colouring medium - Polychromos
  • dies - Memory Box Poppy, Tattered Lace Chantilly Diamond and Spellbinders Happy Birthday and Circles
  • from my stash - lace, pearls, organza ribbon, Stickles and gems

Leaf

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is an awesome digi pack containing several images and a paper pack too - how cool is that.

Challenge 246

Theme 'LEAVES'

For my 'leaves' creation I first decided on a very simple colour scheme, green and white.  Next I printed the leaf digi from Coosty Creations and coloured this with Pan Pastels then sprayed with Luminart Pine Green, gold glitter spray and some varnish spray.  The veins of the leaf were debossed to darken them and I had to go over the text around the edge of the leaf with black pen as the Pan Pastels had faded it to much.  To finish off the leaf I added a wee ladybug :) :) :)
The card was made up of several layers, the base layer being green mulberry paper which I wet the edges of and frayed.  Next a plain white mount which I embossed with a leaf pattern.  Next was to die cut the quilted background using the Tattered Lace Quilted Cushion die and I then placed the outside square using another Tattered Lace die, Chatsworth Scallop Square.
To finish of my card which I am using as a notelet to write to my mother I added a very special glass pendant.  The glass is recycled and from Kenya.  I lived with my folks for some time in Kenya so I know my mum is going to like this addition.  Finally a white bow and a wee green button and there we have it, all done.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Leaf by Coosty Creations
  • Colouring medium - Pan Pastels
  • Dies - Tattered Lace Quilted Cushion and Chatsworth Scallop Square
  • From my Stash - ladybird, button, Luminart Pine Green, gold glitter spray, varnish spray, ribbon, glass pendant, pearls and mulberry paper

An Apple A Day

Today I have used the really adorable image An Apple A Day by Karen Middleton available in both rubber and as a digi from the store.

To begin with I coloured the image with Faber Castell Polychromos.  Normally if I am using a mixture of my crayons and Promarkes I first colour the image with the Promarkers then build up the colour with my crayons. This time I did it the other way round to see what would happen.  It was not very successful and I stopped pretty quickly after just playing on the hat.  I have heard of Promarkers sometimes blotting and have to admit in three years this has never happened to me - until today lol.  So here is the coloured image complete with my Promarker bleed grrrrrrr :) and yes the ugly pink bit at the top was me wiping the ink oozing out from the nib, alas after the damage to the image.  To cover up the bleed at the end of the card I added a very small butterfly.

With the image coloured I then created my card.  The design papers are freebies I have had for ages from a magazine.  I used the same design papers to create the flowers with another freebie, the Die'sire - blossom fleurs die which came on a magazine recently.  Rather like this die, easy and effective and perfect for adding height with a strong flower.  Each of the flowers was finished off with three pink pearls.  The cream leave behind the flowers were cut with Spellbinders Foliage and a second butterfly was added to one of the flowers.  Both butterflies were finished off with some extra fine pink glitter on the edges and a teeny tiny blue gem.  The base mat was distressed around the edges, the image mounted on two mats and both layers here were distressed too.  The second mat was cut using Tattered Lace die.  Some white lace was added for a wee bit of texture then the leaves and flowers were added.

The inside of the card used up the final scraps of paper I had left along with a caterpillar die from Poppystamps - he is so cute and saying as there is a caterpillar appearing out of the apple in the image I had to add him to my card.  He was also cut out of my design paper scraps.

Ingredients :-

  • Image - An Apple A Day by Karen Middleton
  • Colouring Medium - Polychromos and Promarkers
  • Dies - Die'sire - Blossom Fleurs, Spellbinders Foliage Tattered Lace die (can't remember the name) and Poppystamps caterpillar
  • From my stash - lace, pearls, design papers

Teddy Bear Mermaid

There are times when you colour an image and are just not happy with it and this is one of them for me.  I think it is because with the way she has turned out she looks so scared.  However, I tend to go ahead an make a card or something with my poor colouring, maybe I should throw it away and redo it lol but I enjoy the challenge of trying to bring the disaster into something.  In this case I had the perfect sentiment and, for me fitted my coloured image perfectly.

So to make this card I coloured the image with Polychromos.  The background was coloured with Pan Pastels and then I used my embossing folder and hammer so I could emboss only the background and not the image.  For my base mat I embossed a piece of card with a Spelllbinders folder of shells and then used a few shades of Brusho and spay water to get lots of texture and movement.  Both the image and the base mat were mounted on orange card to tie in with the underwater plants.  Next I used a tree branch die from Memory Box for more seaweed and the Large Ringlet die also from Memory Box for bubbles.  To finish off I added a few pearl strands, some small bead shells around the sentiment and then some very precious shells collected by my daughter and grandson on a wee outing they had walking along the beach.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Concetta Kilmer's Teddy Bear Mermaid
  • Colouring Medium -  Faber Castell Polychromos, Pan Pastels and Brushos
  • Dies - Memory Box Woodland Branch and Large Ringlets
  • From my stash - shells, sentiment stamp, pearls, Frantage

inside of card
Wow, this has been a hard challenge for me :) maybe that is because my hubby really does not like cards and so was no help in suggesting what to do. Initially I had a totally different plan, right up until the last moment when I actually chose my image.  I was going to do a die cut key with a skeleton on it and some link to here is the skeleton key to my heart or something like that.  However, when I saw the Latex Sally image a new idea, a simple one I admit, sprung to mind.
So for my rather naughty hahaha birthday card I added the image to some digital paper I had put together using an image from Iclipart.  I then added a red glow around the image and printed.  The sentiment was also added digitally at this point. This was then mounted on red card and black peel off stickers used around the printed edge.  I used the same background image for the inside of my card to it all matches up rather well.
To finish off I added a black tassel, some pearls and black gems to the front of the card and a few bits of the peel off stickers I had left to the insert.

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Long Tall Latex Sally
  • Colouring medium - digital
  • From my stash - tassel, pearls, black gems, black peel off stickers

Boxer

Hello folks.  We have another challenge at One Stitch At A Time so how about popping over to see all the fabulous creations by the design team.  The prize this month is an awesome digi pack containing several images and a paper pack too - how cool is that.

Challenge 245

Theme 'GRATITUDE'

I think we often forget how much we should be grateful for, to show gratitude for as so often this world seems to me to be very materialistic.  I am grateful for so much in my life and do my very best to let that be know to those involved, from the tiny things of hubby telling me he loves me (still hahaha) to seeing flowers in all their glory growing wild and knowing they bring so much colour to my life, to my children and grandson and just seeing them grow into responsible and caring individuals, our pets which love us unconditionally, true friendship (not the fickle kind but the sort of friends who walk through life beside you), you get my drift :).

Continuing the jounals I am making for my daughters I have used the image Boxer by Beary Dust for a page in my eldest daughters journal.  She loves boxers and have had a couple for a few years now.  I know she totally loves her babies and is thankful for their companionship and unconditional love and I thought it would be rather nice for the dogs (via me) to make a page to that my daughter for the love she has given them, for being their guardian here on earth :)

To begin I coloured the image with Polychromos and then used Gesso on the double page.  Next I printed my text sections and glued them in place and then coloured over the whole two page area with Spectum Noir Tints.  It was then on to adding some clear texture paste with lots of texture and matching up with the fence on the digi.  A dog paw print stamp came in rather handy to decorate the top section of the page.

For the bottom of the pages I added some green organza ribbon with gold trim then used a border die of flowers and grass - Tattered Lace Panorama Grass Small.
Almost finished :) I wanted to add some flowers but most of the dies I have are to bulky for the journal.  The Tattered Lace Chrysanthemum die is perfect, not to much height but lots of busyness so very effective and will lie flat when the journal is closed.  Each flower was finished off with a gem.  To add a bit of bling I sprayed each flower and the top section of the page with Crafters Companion Gold Glitter Spray.  I think my daughter will love this page in her journal when she is eventually given it and I suspect by then her two boxer dogs she has at the moment will have left this earth for their next destination and if they could speak our language they would be saying this themselves :)

Ingredients:-
  • Image - Boxer by Beary Dust
  • Colouring medium - Polychromos, SN Tints
  • Dies - Tattered Lace Chrysanthemum and Panorama Grass Small
  • From my Stash - ribbon, gems, texture paste, glitter spray
